Engaging Students Overview

Engaging students takes a combination of well-structured course design, lesson planning, meaningful assessments and a supportive class community. Well-structured courses and lessons help students focus on what is important and why it’s important, so they don’t feel overwhelmed or lost in the content. Meaningful assessments help students practice using the content in new ways and authentic situations, which gives them better preparation for their future. A supportive class community gives students more confidence when learning challenging content and creates an inviting environment that encourages them to return to class.
