Instructional Development offers many services and products for the UC Santa Barbara faculty, staff and student community. Although many services are provided free for instructional support up to budgetary limits, all of the services are also available on a cost recovery, recharge basis. Services are available to clients from off-campus, but we must charge an additional percentage for overhead.

Classroom Services

Media Equipment, Campbell Hall, Buchanan Hall, IV Theaters, Embarcadero Hall Event Support

There is no charge for equipment used for classes as listed in the Registrar's Schedule of Classes.  This includes both portable and installed equipment.  There is a labor charge based on cost-recovery for staff to deliver, set up, and operate the equipment, at the rates listed below.

For all other events not listed in the Schedule of Classes, or events that take place in a different location or at a different time than what is listed in the Schedule of Classes, equipment and labor charges apply at the rates listed below.
Daily Rates = 4 times the hourly rate unless otherwise noted.

Free Production Support For Course Materials

Due to budget cuts, Instructional Development can no longer provide any free prodution support for course materials. This includes all production areas: ArtWorks, Photo Services, Sound Recording and Video Services (with the exception of video conferencing for courses). Funding for production assistance for Letters & Science faculty is available from Collaborate, and this funding can be applied toward the recharge costs for work done by any Instructional Development production unit. Once you're logged in, check out courses by subject or by software brand, or simply search for a topic that interests you. Clicking on a course title shows you the complete table of contents, and gives you direct access to all the corresponding videos. Where applicable, downloadable exercise files are included so you can try out new skills as you follow along with the tutorials.
